Garden of Eden

Two years ago, Danny and I were working for the Rescue Sale at Colby. We spent a good portion of the day salvaging leftover goods from all over campus and then storing them in a tractor trailer until they would be sold in the fall.
In addition to getting paid, working allowed me to stay on campus and explore parts of the Greater Waterville Area that I had never seen before. One of these parts was Gagnon Road and Country Road. We called it the Garden of Eden, or more simply, Eden Hill.
These photos were taken from the top of my truck, which helped provide a better angle from which to shoot.
The last shot from the sequence.
Moments like these are what make me appreciate hanging out with Danny. Some of the best and most intense discussions I've had at Colby have been with him, yet he always maintains a humourous side.

More Québec

While sessioning the hill nearby, we watched the sun slowly set and the artificial lighting take over. We skied down the rest of the snowmobile trail, which lead us to the crossing here.
This is Montmorency Falls, which serves as the last major drop in elevation before the Morency River pour into the St. Lawrence. The falls are an impressive 30 meters higher than the Niagara Falls and are named after the once viceroy of New France. That the mound Ben is standing in front of is now entirely gone serves as testament to the volatility of these falls.
I was hoping to focus a little more on the falls in this photo. We were the only people in the park that night, and somehow we managed to get in free.
Since Nolan was on his skis, he was able to move around the frozen river basin much easier than Ben or I. By traversing up the side of this wall (something in between the texture of a ski slope and an ice rink), we were able to look down into the basin itself. Needless to say, we didn't stay up there for long.
There were a number of lights set up that went on and off while we were exploring. Our guess was that they were set up for outdoor enthusiasts, such as some of the ice climbers who were scaling the massive couloirs.
Preparing to skate back to the truck.

Ne nous dit pas qu'on est - Québec

My friend, Ben, outside of St. Anne de Beaupré Cathedral, Québec. Exploring the urbanside around Québec City brought us to a number of amazing ski and riding spots, as well as cultural ones.
Nolan and I purchased this hat a couple months ago, since neither of us had the funds to buy one apiece.
Nolan, walking above the banks of the St. Lawrence. One of the reasons I enjoy skiing with these guys is that they're both out for the adventure. Earlier in the day, after skiing a couple icy lines at Mont-Sainte-Anne, we refunded our tickets and went exploring for interesting lines on the banks of the St. Lawrence.
Here, one can see a clear elevation change in this photo, which includes the massive (and sketchy) drop that Nolan hit. This photo is a bit granier than the rest, since I stepped the ISO up to 800. Normally, I'll shoot with 100 with digital and 64 for film.
